PHP Developer – WHMCS & Backend Integrations

Job Location: hybrid in Bucharest

Role Overview

We are looking for a PHP Developer with strong backend experience and hands-on exposure to WHMCS to join our client's growing team.

In this role, you will work on backend integrations, automation flows, and custom platform development around WHMCS. You will collaborate closely with technical teams to improve internal systems, automate operational processes, and ensure reliable integrations between multiple services and APIs.

The ideal candidate combines strong PHP knowledge with practical problem-solving skills, backend thinking, and enough infrastructure understanding to work comfortably in Linux-based environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain backend services and integrations using PHP 7/8
  • Customize and extend WHMCS through hooks, modules, and API integrations
  • Design and implement REST API integrations with internal and external systems
  • Write clean, maintainable, and secure code following OOP principles
  • Optimize and maintain MySQL/MariaDB queries and database structures
  • Debug and troubleshoot backend issues in production environments
  • Work with Linux-based servers for deployment, maintenance, and debugging
  • Collaborate with backend and infrastructure teams on automation and operational improvements
  • Contribute to system reliability, security, and platform stability

Must-Have Requirements:

  • Strong PHP 7/8 experience (minimum 3 years in real production projects)
  • Solid understanding of:
    - Object-Oriented Programming
    - REST APIs
    - backend security fundamentals
  • Experience with WHMCS customizations, hooks, modules, or integrations
  • Strong MySQL / MariaDB knowledge:
    - complex queries
    - relational database design
    - query optimization
  • Experience working with Git:
    - branching
    - commits
    - pull requests
  • - merge workflows

Nice to Have:

  • Python 3 experience for scripting and automation
  • Linux / CLI knowledge- SSH
